Meet your guide Ellen M Alonso Street MS, RD, CLE
Health and nutrition are deeply personal, and effective communication is key to making meaningful changes. As a dedicated healthcare professional, I understand the emotional and sometimes traumatic relationships people have with food. My counseling approach is truly patient-centered—I meet you where you are, providing compassionate, evidence-based guidance tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Whether you're navigating a medical condition and exploring how plant-based eating can support healing, rebuilding your relationship with food free from diet culture's grip, or simply curious about incorporating more whole plant foods into your life, I'm here to support you. Together, we'll discover how the therapeutic power of plants can nourish both your body and your connection to the Earth, using tools and strategies that work best for you and honor your individual journey.
My journey to becoming a dietitian began with an exploration of Ayurveda and Eastern philosophy through my yoga teacher training curriculum in 2012, which naturally led me to the field of clinical nutrition.
After earning a Bachelors degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, and a Masters degree in Human Nutrition from Oregon State University, my path as a registered dietitian has been enriched by working with patients across various life stages: from nurturing new mothers and infants, all the way to providing compassionate support in end-of-life nutrition therapy and terminal disease management.
My interest in holistic healing has deep roots in my upbringing. Raised on a largely plant-based diet by my parents, I spent my childhood and young adulthood practicing plant-based eating and 2025 marks my 13th year following a vegan diet! Plant-based healing was part of how I was raised, and therapies alternative to Western medicine were the norm for me growing up. This foundation naturally drew me to explore healing traditions beyond conventional approaches.
My perspective on healing deepened significantly during my mid-twenties, when I traveled to the Peruvian Amazon to study non-Western approaches to plant medicine. The Amazon rainforest profoundly shaped how I relate to the natural world and approach my work as a dietitian. Living in the jungle taught me how life can move at a different pace, a slower pace, offering broader perspectives on wellness and what it means to live freely. The plants and their traditional uses continue to inspire my practice, reminding me of the healing wisdom available in the natural world when we're open to receiving it.
This holistic foundation informs everything I do.
I am a steadfast advocate for holistic health. At the core of my practice is the unwavering belief that good healthcare is not a privilege—it is a birthright. I am dedicated to providing you with a safe, supportive space where you can learn about how nutrition can shape your life for the better. I give my patients the information they need to make educated decisions about their health care. I work to understand my patient's unique experiences and feelings about their health and eating, so I can best meet their needs and personalize their treatment plan. Together, we honor the totality of your experience, guiding you towards a dynamic state of healing and a vibrant, healthier you.
